š Project Kickoff!
Weāre excited to share the beginning of our journey on the IBM 3D Printed AI Weather ArtĀ project ā an AI-enabled, interactive art piece designed to display weather updates, news, and music in a format that's intuitive and accessible, especially for elderly individuals living alone.
Team Introductions & Planning
In Weeks 1 and 2, we focused on laying the foundationĀ for the rest of the project:
Held our first meetings with both our client and academic supervisor
Discussed project expectations, constraints, and end goals
Finalized our design document, which outlines:
Preliminary task list
Technical and project management roles
Milestones and time estimates
Project management methodology (Hybrid Agile)
Work Division
We clearly assigned roles across both technicalĀ and non-technicalĀ areas:
UI design, backend integration, voice control, budget tracking, documentation, and communications
This structure ensures each member has ownership and accountability moving forward
IBM SkillsBuild Learning
To prepare for the technical and AI components of our assistant, each team member completed:
Getting Started with AI
Build Your Own AI Assistant
These courses helped us understand the key AI workflows and inspired our early feature planning ā particularly around voice interaction and user-centered design.
š§ Design Thinking & Agile Planning
Weāve begun adopting IBMās Design Thinking principlesĀ by:
Identifying user personas (e.g., elderly users with limited tech exposure)
Outlining key user needs and accessibility considerations
Planning to iterate weekly through Agile-style mini-sprints
